Laia Pla

Laia Pla, Badalona (Barcelona), 1973.

I studied sculpture at the Superior School of Art and Design Pau Gargallo of Badalona (Barcelona) and fashion design at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic at Trades Llotja of Barcelona.

I mix two disciplines creating textile sculptures as the basis of my work.

I use other materials to create different experimental lines.

My work starts in a classic way by modelling clay.

When the mold is made, I experiment with textile material, paper, resin, plaster, cement and everything else that comes to mind.

I've participated in numerous collective exhibitions in Italy (San Vigilio), Estonia and Spain (Huesca, Múrcia, Girona, Barcelona, Tarragona, Badalona, Cornellà de Llobregat, Granollers, Mataró, Sitges, Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, Torredembarra, Mataró and Menorca).

I've exhibited at the Music Museum of Barcelona, at the Natural Science Museum of Granollers and at the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona where I have a piece included in the permanent collection of the museum.

Jose Manuel Infiesta

Laia Pla is an example of constancy and passion for sculpture.

Mireia Puente Vilardell
( ARTxTU )

Laia Pla's sculptures are set within a new femininity that breaks with stereotypes without losing their essence.

Laura Moreno
( TIH )

Her work gives me strength, transgression and a great deal of inspiration. Unique pieces with a great emotional charge and at the same time, capable of provoking a great aesthetic pleasure.
